For my run, I head over to the Joong Boo Korean Grocery store near Belmont and Kimball in Chicago. For New Year’s, Koreans traditionally eat Dduk Gook, a rice dumpling soup. Normally, I’m with my family on the east coast, where most Korean restaurants are open and give out free helpings of dduk gook. But this year, since we had to stay in Chicago, I’ll have to make it myself. The only problem is, I don’t really know how to make it.

But, as a nice little bonus for the effort, there is a jumbo dumpling shop outside of the Joon Boo market that sells Wang Mandoo. These were just the thing I needed to keep me fueled and warm in these 14 degree Chicago winter temps.
